Shriners International is a fraternity based on fun,
fellowship and the Masonic principles of brotherly love,
relief and truth. There are approximately 340,000
members from 193 temples (chapters) in the U.S., Canada,
Mexico, the Philippines, Puerto Rico and the
Republic of Panama.
Shriners International supports Shriners
Hospitals for Children®, a health care system of 22
hospitals dedicated to improving the lives of children
by providing pediatric specialty care, innovative
research, and outstanding teaching programs for medical
professionals. Children up to age 18 with orthopaedic
conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip
and palate are eligible for care and receive all
services in a family-centered environment, regardless of
the patients’ ability to pay.

Ralph
(Papo) Parsons Ralph William Parsons, 96, of
Lynchburg, died peacefully Wednesday, December
26, 2012 at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was
the loving husband of Doris Mae (Dhu) Estabrook
Clemenson Parsons for the last 45 years. Born in
Rolandus, Ohio on August 6, 1916, he was a son
of the late Connel Otimer Parsons and Mary Moody
Parsons and was also preceded in death by a
brother, Connel Parsons, Jr.; a sister, Ina
Zastudil and a daughter, Judy Lynn Parsons. In
addition to his wife, he is survived by his
children, Roger C. Parsons of Fort Myers, FL,
David Clemenson and wife, Judy of Okeechobee,
FL, Julianne Scullen of Lynchburg, Greg
Clemenson and wife, Carol of Forest; 13
grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Ralph
served his country both in the Ohio National
Guard and in the US Army
during WW II. He retired from Babcock &
Wilcox after 46 years of service and was a
member of Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church.
Volunteering was an important part of his life;
he was active in Boy Scouts and over the years
earned a Silver Beaver Award. At the age of 21,
he petitioned the Master of Victory Masonic
Lodge # 649 to join the Masonry and in September
2012 was awarded his 75 year pin. In 1980, Ralph
joined the Lynchburg Shrine Club in order to
become a Shrine Clown. This is where he found
his calling as "Papo the Clown." He
visited and entertained children in Shriners
Hospitals, local hospitals, schools, churches
and birthday parties. The family would like to
express appreciation to all the nurses in STICU
at Lynchburg General Hospital for their tender
loving care. A funeral service will be conducted
11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 29, 2012 in the
chapel of Heritage Funeral Service by the Rev.
Bart Edwards with burial to follow in Fort Hill
Memorial Park with Masonic Rites. The family
will receive friends Friday, December 28, 2012
from 7-8:30 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Service,
427 Graves Mill Road. Memorial contributions may
be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950
West Faris Street, Greenville, SC 29605.
